Vokabulary Terms of Use

Effective 1 October 2026

These terms apply to the Vokabulary app made by Yaman Boztepe. By using the app you agree to them.

Subscription

• Vokabulary needs an active subscription. Plans are monthly or yearly; prices are shown in the app and in your store before you buy.
• The monthly plan can start with a 7-day free trial. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it turns into a paid monthly subscription.
• Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account. Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price and period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the current period stays active until it ends.
• Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies.

Store terms

If you downloaded Vokabulary from the App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. If you downloaded it from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply.

Content

Word meanings and example sentences are written to help you learn and may contain mistakes. The app is a study aid and does not guarantee any exam result or level.

Word list and credits

The words and their CEFR levels come from two open sources:

• The CEFR-J Wordlist Version 1.6. Compiled by Yukio Tono, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. Retrieved from http://www.cefr-j.org/download.html on 01/10/2026.
• Octanove Vocabulary Profile C1/C2, version 1.0, by Octanove Labs, licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0, via Open Language Profiles. We selected entries and matched them to our own word list.

Our adapted list of words, parts of speech and levels is published under CC BY-SA 4.0 at this page. The meanings and example sentences in the app are our own work and are not covered by that licence.

Open source software used in the app is listed on the open source notices page.

Your data

What the app keeps and what it sends is described in the Privacy Policy.

Liability

The app is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses arising from its use.

Changes

If these terms change, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
